Make a glass water globe using a glass lathe
- 2 hr2 hours
- 100 British pounds£100
In this beginners class you will experience blowing glass on a glass lathe. Glass blowing is one of the oldest art forms in the world, and it’s an incredibly delicate skill that requires years of training and practice to master. For people who are interested in learning the skill, though, my little lathe can help them get their feet wet and learn the basics of glass blowing. My little lathe is small enough to fit on a table, but it’s still big enough to turn out impressive results During the 2 hour session you will make a glass water globe by heating borosilicate glass with a torch to create the globe. Glass water globes can be used to keep your indoor or outdoor plants watered with a steady feed of water. If time allows we will make a second object with a choice of colour. Please note your piece will have to be annealed overnight to remove stresses and can be collected or mailed out to you from the next day. Please contact me to book a date.
